The centre of Atherstone – the area inside the Conservation Area – has changed very little in 750 years. Buildings have been replaced, re-fronted and ‘modernised’ but the town has escaped the wholesale devastation that happened to many towns in the 1960s. There are over 60 listed buildings in Atherstone with a further 25 categorised as having a ‘positive’ contribution to the look of the town. Look up and see the wealth of detail on the upper floors of some of the shops.
