Samian Ware Bowl

This item of Roman tableware was found at Mancetter. This was dipped in slip and burnished to produce the characteristic Samian ware appearance.
This item dates from the first century and was imported from South or Central Gaul. The maker's mark OFMODES can be clearly seen in the middle of the bowl, it was made in the workshop of Modes.
